Islamic Golden Age Workshop

Year 9 Religion and Values students took part in two workshops run by Islamic Museum of Victoria at the beginning of term 2.

Firstly, students participated in the Medieval Europe and Islam workshop which focuses on the Muslim Contributions to Civilisation as part of their term two Religion and Values Unit.

Through these workshops, students discovered “The Islamic Golden Age”, which is traditionally dated from the mid-7th century to the mid-15th century at which Muslim rulers established the largest empires in history.

Students discovered many extraordinary work of Muslim scholars in the Islamic Contributions to Civilisation and Faith galleries of the museum.

Students were also fascinated by finding out about the Muslim artists, engineers, scholars, doctors, poets, philosophers, geographers and traders in the Islamic world who vastly contributed to agriculture, arts, economics, industry, law, medicine, literature, navigation, philosophy, sciences, sociology, and technology.

In the second workshop, students went hands-on and tried out the Islamic art as seen in most Islamic architecture such as palaces and mosques. It was a great way to conclude our Islamic Museum excursion.
